National Year of Reading 2008
As the UK's national library, the British Library is proud to join forces with the National Literacy Trust to support the National Year of Reading.
By doing so we hope to offer a platform of opportunity both internally and externally to its yearly activities and to encourage people to read in businesses, homes, and communities around the country, providing new opportunities to read and helping people to access help and support through schools and libraries.
The National Year of Reading is a year-long celebration of reading, in all its forms. It aims to help build a greater national passion for reading in England – for children, families and adult learners alike. Each month from April to December 2008 will be accompanied by a theme under which local community activities will take place.
The National Year of Reading’s goal is to promote the diversity of reading. It has at its heart the key values of impact, celebration, creativity, and legacy.
As deliverers of the World’s Knowledge, who better to support the National Year of Reading than the UK's greatest library. Whether helping with a local event or attending one of our own, every little bit helps. Be the change you wish to see, and promote reading with your every step!
