NEW - Ramayana Workshops

19 May - 12 September 2008

This workshop links to The Ramayana: Love and Valour in India's Great Epic exhibition. The Ramayana follows the story of Prince Rama and his quest to rescue his beloved wife Sita from the clutches of the king, Ravana, with the help of an army of monkeys. More than 100 paintings will be on display from the British Library’s lavishly illustrated 17th-century manuscripts of the story. The vivid, brightly coloured scenes are packed with narrative detail and dramatic imagery.

Primary groups will look at the key messages of the Ramayana and how they relate to the lives of Hindus today.

Secondary, FE, HE and adult groups  will focus on the relationship between the Ramayana and Hindu belief and practice, exploring the connections between history, myth and faith.

Group tours will also be on offer for adult groups.  These will examine the importance of the Ramayana in the Hindu faith through manuscripts and artefacts on display.

For more information, visit the Ramayana page on our visits and workshops page.
