This is the detail from the bottom of one page of the Luttrell Psalter. This land has been ploughed but still has many clods of earth. A man and a woman are breaking them up with sledgehammers. Farming was not just men's work. Look at the expressions on their faces.
This is a small illustration from the Luttrell Psalter, a highly decorated prayer book which was made for Sir Geoffrey Luttrell of Irnham between 1325 and 1335.
